Martyrs [Horror Movie Review]

Martyrs is a masterpiece.
I don't really know where else to go from there. Where can one go?
I went into the movie expecting a revenge thriller of sorts, but the experience was brutal, visceral, and transcendent. The moments of quiet and soft music allow you to soak in the characters' torment. The film reveals so much about the two female protagonists, heavily implied to be lovers, without insulting the viewer. The characters aren't the only ones who take punches to the gut; the entire story from start to end is an unrelenting assault that's both profound and difficult to endure. It never feels like a nihilistic bloodbath.
If you haven't seen this gritty, astonishing film (the 2010 original, not the American remake, never the American remake [shakes fists at clouds]), I suggest giving it a try as soon as you can. Be warned: It doesn't pull any of its punches or kicks.
If you haven't seen Martyrs, you can find it at the link below for only $8. I implore you to watch this film because it's absolutely gut-wrenching and masterful. Seriously, do what I did and watch it with no spoilers and very little context.
