Anatole, the son of an executioner and from an executioner, or bourreau, dynasty, is an unassuming man who keeps to himself. He enjoys reading funny newspaper comic strips, gardening, cycling, and walking the dog. His father made him dissect animals at a young age to prepare him for being an executioner. Anatole was in the military and was also a salesman, but he struggled to make money because he was an executioner's son.
This, however, gave him no choice but to become an executioner as the only available option left. He became the official French executioner close to the turn of the century, and he is simultaneously a reviled, isolated figure and a celebrity. His outfits are the subject of fashion trends. He also enjoys making his own perfumes, and he loves his family more than anything. He especially enjoys making sweets for his daughter, Marcy.
